Contrast considerations
The physician determines whether contrast is appropriate after reviewing factors such as allergies, kidney function and the clinical question.
CT is ordered for emergency evaluation, not elective screening, coronary-calcium scoring or routine specialty imaging.
Emergency Ultrasound
Focused bedside imaging used for selected symptoms and clinical decisions.

Pregnancy-related imaging depends on the physician's assessment, gestational stage and facility capability. Transfer or specialty follow-up may be recommended.
This service is not routine prenatal, keepsake or elective specialty ultrasound.

About MRI
NorthStar's confirmed on-site imaging capabilities are multi-slice CT, digital X-ray and bedside ultrasound. We do not claim on-site MRI availability.
If an MRI or another specialty study is medically necessary and unavailable at the facility, your care team will explain the appropriate next step, which may include referral, follow-up or transfer based on your condition.
The safest imaging choice is determined by your physician after evaluating your symptoms and medical history.
Physician-Directed Care
IV Fluids and Dehydration Treatment
Vomiting, diarrhea, fever, heat exposure and difficulty keeping fluids down can lead to dehydration. After assessing your condition, a physician may recommend oral hydration, IV fluids, medication, laboratory testing or monitoring.
Possible dehydration symptoms include intense thirst, dry mouth, dizziness, weakness, reduced urination, fast heart rate or confusion. Severe symptoms warrant urgent evaluation.
Important distinction: Emergency IV hydration is not an iron-infusion program. NorthStar does not advertise elective iron infusions on this page.
Treatment Follows the Diagnosis
Depending on the evaluation, emergency treatment may include:
- IV hydration and physician-ordered medication
- Pain, nausea or fever management
- Monitoring and repeat assessment
- Injury, wound or symptom-specific care
- Discharge guidance, referral or transfer when needed
Emergency Laboratory
On-Site Lab Testing
Laboratory results can reveal infection, anemia, dehydration, kidney or liver concerns, electrolyte imbalance and other causes of urgent symptoms. Tests are ordered based on your physician's evaluation.
Children may receive age-appropriate lab testing or X-rays when medically necessary. Our team explains the process and works to make testing as comfortable as possible.
NorthStar's laboratory supports emergency care. It is not a direct-to-consumer outpatient lab for routine panels without an emergency evaluation.

What diagnostic services are available at NorthStar?

Are testing and treatment services available 24/7?
NorthStar is open 24/7 for walk-in emergency evaluation. Specific testing is ordered according to the physician's assessment and your medical needs.
Do I need an appointment or outside referral?
No appointment or outside referral is required for an emergency visit. The treating physician determines which tests are appropriate.
Can I come only for an X-ray, CT scan or lab test?
NorthStar provides testing as part of an emergency medical evaluation. It is not an elective imaging center or direct-to-consumer outpatient laboratory.
Do you offer MRI on site?
Our confirmed on-site imaging includes CT, digital X-ray and bedside ultrasound. If an MRI is medically necessary and unavailable at the facility, the care team will explain the appropriate referral or transfer pathway.
Can children receive diagnostic testing?
Yes. Pediatric testing may include age-appropriate laboratory work or X-rays when the physician determines it is medically necessary.
Do you provide routine pregnancy ultrasounds?
No. Ultrasound may be used for selected pregnancy-related emergency symptoms when clinically appropriate, but NorthStar does not provide routine prenatal or keepsake imaging.
Are IV fluids the same as an iron infusion?
No. IV fluids support hydration and emergency treatment. NorthStar does not advertise an elective iron-infusion program on this page.
How long will testing take?
Timing varies based on your condition, the tests ordered and patient volume. Your care team will keep you informed as your evaluation progresses.
